Bonaparte Indian Band - St'uxwtéws
Bonaparte Indian Band is located west of Cache Creek on about 1878 hectares of land. The band is separated into nine sections, and has a membership of nearly 800. Among Bonaparte's developments is the Bonaparte Forest Referral Committee which consists of four community members. The Bonaparte Forest Referral Committee reviews development plans of forest licencees who operate within the Bonaparte Traditional Area. After review, the referral committee makes recommendations to the plans. Recommendations, that alter Licencee plans and incorporate Bonaparte concerns in order to protect areas around archaeology, riparian zones and other concerns raised by the committee. The committee is updated on logging activities and work opportunities at meetings.
