Youth CouncilI
Chris Bose: Here is a link to a series of artwork regarding the Apology by Stephen Harper to the First Nations, Inuit and Metis people of Canada for the Residential Schools. I'm marketing them to Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal organizations, as well as Education institutions as a means of engaging people into learning about the Apology and the Residential Schools.
I've lectured in high schools and universities across Canada , and other than us First Nations people, the vast majority of Canada doesn't even know a thing about the Apology, and share a collective denial about Residential Schools. So, I figured a creative way to engage them might spark something.
You can see them here:

If you wanted to share the link, please do, I figure doing this ourselves instead of someone else doing it might tell at least, part of the story correctly. Our voice is all too often taken from us, so I think sometimes we need to take it back by any means necessary
The Shuswap Nation Tribal Council (SNTC) is excited to announce the establishment of the
“Be the Change” Youth Collective.
This is an opportunity for Secwepemc youth to represent their community, their culture and themselves, to establish their voice, and to be heard. It is the intent of the Shuswap Nation Tribal Council’s “Be the Change” Youth Collective to find the potential leader in each Secwepemc youth and to facilitate their growth in order to encourage and support our future generations in the pursuit of accountable representation, self-governance and social and economic development.
SNTC is looking for two youth representatives (1 male and 1 female) from each of the ten member bands who are between the ages of 18 and 25.
If you are interested in representing your community here are three easy steps to submit your application:
(1) Fill out a youth representative form.
(2) Write a letter of personal introduction (maximum one page) explaining why you would like to
represent your community at the Shuswap Nation Tribal Council.
(3) Submit your application in person at Suite 304 - 355 Yellowhead Highway, Kamloops, or,
by fax (250.374.6331).
By submitting an application you are committing to attend monthly meetings. Travel expenses will be provided by the SNTC. If youth representatives are unable to attend a monthly meeting they may participate through a conference call.
Questions? Please contact Reanna Leonard at 250.828.9789, or, email her at library@shuswapnation.org.
